Discovering WordPress & Google Sites

Hey, I am back! Thus far, I am enjoying my quest on learning how to create a new website. I totally forget to mention in my last blog post, that part of the reason why I am interested in learning how to create websites, is because I have come across several people who were looking for people to create their website for them, but they could not find anybody or money was an issue. Several people have asked me if I created websites and I said no. But hopefully, that would change soon.

So, in my last blog entry, I had said I was going to start with WordPress. I started with WordPress, because I am very familiar with WordPress. WordPress is what my Church uses to update its site. I have been using WordPress for the past 2 to 3 years - that is updating my Church website. But for those of you who do not know what word press is, WordPress is a blog that acts like a website.  And also, WordPress is FREE ...until you decide to add special features to it. And also, they made it so that you can turn off the comments button, so it will look more like a website instead of a blog. It also comes with special themes and templates.

You can pay WordPress $17 a year (special feature) to have your own personal website address; so instead of having something like iamcool.wordpress.com (this is made up), which is FREE and is automatically created when you create a WordPress account, you can have something like www.iamcool.com. You can also pay additional fee annually, if you want to do really cool stuff, like adding videos, writing CSS codes (Cascading Style Sheets - which is another variation of HTML) and a whole lot of other stuff.

I am currently creating a "mock" site of my own with WordPress. Once it is fully created, I will share it with everyone. Right now, it is still its development stages and I am using the free version. I am not paying any additional fee for additional features as for now. But that might change. And also, a lot of big corporations like CNN, BBC and TIME use word press. To learn more about these big corporations using word press, go to VIP WordPress Hosting

The next site that I found is Google Sites. Google Sites does exactly what WordPress does, only it is not as sophisticated as WordPress would say Google Sites is much easier to use. And it also gives you more templates theme than WordPress. Google Sites is FREE and I am still learning how to use it. Once again, I am creating a "mock" site with Google Sites, once that is done, I'll share it with everyone. Which one do I prefer out of the two, I would say WordPress for now. But I believe this is from my bias towards WordPress, since I have some familiarity with it. But then again, this could change as time goes on.

If you're interested in website creation, try taking a look at these two sites and see what you think about them. And if you have a business, or you're an artist, or you have some type of organization that needs a website, but you don't want to pay a lot of money for it or it is FREE, I'll say WordPress and Google Sites is the place to go. Okay, so this is a really long post and I'll stop here. Until next time. :)

Be blessed!

Website Creation

Hello everyone! The title says it all. I am currently on the search on how to create websites. I don't just mean any websites, but websites that are visually attractive, easy to navigate and has awesome content. I would need to learn how to write html (which I do, but need more knowledge), JavaScript and what ever computer language is needed. I would probably need to also buy some adobe software programming. I would like to know how to be a site host for a lot of people who need are looking for where to host their websites. And I would love to create websites for a lot of people, organizations, companies, artists, etc. But for now word press is a good place to start, with website creation.
